Budweiser has paired up with WeRateDogs on Twitter to give fans of the delicious brew a chance to let their pooches shine. In a fun plan to encourage dog moms and dads to get involved, Budweiser has offered to digitally construct a can of their holiday brew with images of their top picks photoshopped onto them.
On Monday 3rd May, WeRateDogs posted up a series of images showing an adorable young Dalmation puppy frolicking in a field, climbing out of a picnic basket, standing on its hind legs, and finally, printed on a Budweiser can. The precious pup’s name is Brewski, with WeRateDogs describing him as a professional picnic planner as well as the new face of Budweiser’s holiday can.
WeRateDogs goes on to express how honored Brewski is to have this incredible opportunity given to him. They also explain the exciting chance dog moms and dads all over Twitter will have to experience some of Brewski’s fame. Apparently, in order for your pooch to have a chance at being put onto a can of Budweiser, you simply need to respond to the post with your favorite photo of your canine buddy and the hashtag #Pupweiser.
Budweiser quickly responded to WeRateDogs with a funny photoshop of a holiday can with a dog carrying an extremely shocked expression on the front. They encourage pooch mamas and papas to post their pictures in the comment thread, adding that a few lucky posters may even get a festive red and green can of Bud bearing their pup’s face sent to them in the mail!
Not only that, but as a sincere sign of gratitude to those who decide to enroll themselves in this light-hearted competition, Budweiser will be donating $25,000 to the Pets & People Foundation. This is a non-profit organization that focuses on offering pet-assisted therapy visits to people who are in need of a bit of joy to brighten their day.
Not only is the competition running on Twitter, but Budweiser has also created a mock-up page at us.budweiser.com/pupweiser, where dog owners can upload a picture of their canine companion to see what it would be like to see their furry friend’s face on a Budweiser holiday can.
Prospective can cover models flooded the comments with their fluffy faces and fun expressions! With some posed in the snow, staring soulfully into the camera, or even out on a hike. The youthful look of some of these beautiful pooches even had Budweiser questioning whether or not they are of legal drinking age, with one post responding to a picture of a puppy with “there’s no way with pup is 21, but okay!”
This clever promotional stunt bears a striking similarity to one reported by BoredPanda, in which the North Dakota-based brewery called Fargo created cans with the faces of homeless rescue dogs. They had done so in an attempt to help local shelters find forever homes for their many lost pooches.
